An ideal mic preamp for the current recording world?

Recording technology never stops evolving, however it is impossible to restore the missing parts lost at the input stage. There are so many wonderful mic preamps in the market; some have tasty vintage tone, others with specific characters and so on. Nevertheless, even these high-end preamps are not able to reproduce the transient response of strings and percussion instruments, harmonics that musicians feel when playing their instruments. We know that you have experienced problems before; adding more tracks on the mix makes the sound saturated at specific frequencies, or even a little bit of gain up causes remarkable noises.

We need a preamp without such problems, That is the reason why we started the development.

All for transparent sound and excellent transient capability
Our goal was simple but difficult, developing a preamp that has no difference between the sound musicians feel and the recorded track, making them as transparent as possible. The track must be able to cut through the mix, and must have flat harmonics response. To make it happen, we paid great amount of attentions to every detail in designing this preamp without any compromise.
Every SP-MP2 is manuafctiurd at the finest audio equipmnet factoly in Japan. It is best to build equipments with less components to preserve the sound character of the source though it is very difficult as every audio professional knows. To achieve this, it is important to select components which can preserve original source’s attack, sustain as they are. We strictly select only the best components available, such as feedback resisters that are much more expensive than ordinary chip resisters. Teflon- coated single wires are used for internal wiring because of better transmitting efficiency than standard wires. It also avoids corrosion as well.

These features bring you extraordinarily wide frequency response from ultra low end to higher harmonics, an ultra fast transient response that keeps musicians’ performance alive, and expresses wide dynamic range.

Teflon-coated single wire

Teflon-coated single wires are used instead of standard twisted wires. Teflon-coated wire can transmit signals faster than twisted wires. This is why you can obtain a faster response. Teflon-coating also protects against corrosion and keep its condition healthy for a long time.

Gain +66dB

SP-MP2 provides up to +66dB gain and can be used with most of professional microphones. Because of its ultra natural amplification, you would be able to utilize tone characters of tube mic and ribbon mic .

To keep signal uncolored

For extraordinary, transparent sound, the number of parts used in the preamp should be kept as small as possible. SP-MP2 uses less than 1/3 of components compared to standard preamps. SP-MP2 utilizes only finest components such as feedback resisters that are more expensive than standard tip resistors. We strictly pay a closest attention on every tiny detail to keep signal uncolored.

3dB step gain selector with fine tuning attenuator

Fixed resistors are used for gain control for better sound quality. It can be controlled 3dB step, then it equips with -1dB/-2DB attenuator for fine tuning. Ultra pure gain is available without any loss.
